Tracking Links

Link Spice, a simple new pepper for Mint.

With the release of our new book, Poppas, I needed to find a good way to track clicks from within the sample chapter PDF we're distributing.

Mint, a stats program we use on all of our sites, has a simple plugin interface. This Poppas PDF problem sounded like a good chance to see how easy it was to develop a plugin for Mint. It turns out it's not that hard. A few days of hacking and tweaking and Link Spice was complete.

I don't think there's a huge demand for this sort of plugin. But for people doing this sort of external link tracking from PDFs, emails or newsletters, or running ad campaigns, this should be a handy way to summarize some key variables.
